Subject: Kumihimo comes West?
All the histories of Kumihimo (a Japanese technique of braiding now very popular in the West) say that Kumihimo was first brought to the West in the mid-20th century by Japanese teachers who were initially very reluctant to share their art with non-Japanese students. This book would appear to give the lie to that. The diagrams are clearly kumihimo or closely related, and the so-called 'braiding board' is exactly like a marudai. However PLEASE NOTE that the PDF copy of this book is missing quite a few pages and a lot of illustrations.
